Personally I would buy the 4000D Airflow + 2 extra fans so that you can have 3 intake/1 exhaust, I think this would work really well, look nice, and not be too big. Does anybody know if it's possible In the footage i've seen with the case it looks like there could be room even though the specs say you can't. (The Lancool II Mesh really should just be left in its default fan configuration anyway). I'm planning to buy a Corsair 5000D airflow case and i want to install 3×140mm fans in the front. (Bear in mind the 4000D Airflow will need a few extra fans added in order to maximize its potential).Īs you can see there, the Lancool II Mesh outperforms the 4000D Airflow in the same test, though I personally think the 4000D Airflow looks better. You can see this in action here where the 4000D Airflow actually outperforms the 5000D Airflow in a standardized fan test. In fact, in some scenarios it can actually make airflow a little worse because the front fans are further away from the GPU and CPU coolers, so some of the pressure is lost between the front fans and the components. With that in mind, a bigger case does not necessarily equate to better airflow. You might be the sort of person who doesn't care about how much room it takes up on your desk, but I wanted to bring this up since it's a pretty drastic size difference. Keep in mind that the 5000D is also a lot bigger than the 4000D - it's nearly 7 centimeters longer, 5.5 centimeters taller, and a little wider too. This page shows which Noctua CPU coolers fit the Corsair 5000D Airflow case and if a heatsink is too tall for the maximum CPU cooler clearance specified by. Its brilliantly engineered interior offers incredible expansion capability for. It would fit in very nicely with the rest of my setup. The 5000D AIRFLOW isnt your run of the mill standard mid tower ATX case.

The English translation is, so far it looks like sunscreens with nanoparticles do stay on the surface of the skin where they should be.Īll in all, Titanium Dioxide is a famous sunscreen agent and for good reason, it gives broad spectrum UV protection (best at UVB and UVA II), it's highly stable, and it has a good safety profile. A 2009 review article about the safety of nanoparticles summarizes this, "to date, in-vivo and in-vitro studies have not demonstrated percutaneous penetration of nanosized particles in titanium dioxide and zinc oxide sunscreens". But do not panic, these are concerns under investigation. Once absorbed they might form unwanted complexes with proteins and they might promote the formation of evil free radicals. The main concern with nanoparticles is that they are so tiny that they are absorbed into the skin more than we want them (ideally sunscreen should remain on the surface of the skin). The itsy-bitsy Nano-sized particles improve both spreadability and reduce the whitish tint a lot, but unfortunately, it also introduces new health concerns. ![]() ![]() ![]() The cosmetic industry is, of course, really trying to solve this problem and the best solution so far is using nanoparticles. Sunscreens containing Titanium Dioxide are often hard to spread on the skin and they leave a disturbing whitish tint. The disadvantage of Titanium Dioxide is that it's not cosmetically elegant, meaning it's a white, "unspreadable" mess. Regular sized Titanium Dioxide also has a great safety profile, it's non-irritating and is pretty much free from any health concerns (like estrogenic effect worries with some chemical filters). Its protection is very good between 290 - 350 nm (UVB and UVA II range), and less good at 350-400 nm (UVA I) range. If you are into vitamin C, you can take a look at more promising derivatives here.Īnyway, it doesn't matter if it reflects or absorbs, Titanium Dioxide is a pretty awesome sunscreen agent for two main reasons: it gives a nice broad spectrum coverage and it's highly stable. It is there in lots of products in tiny amounts (honestly, we do not really understand why), however, we do not know about any vitamin C serum featuring AP in high amounts. Overall, Ascorbyl Palmitate is our least favorite vitamin C derivative. Regarding the skin-brightening properties of pure vitamin C, this is another magic property AP does not have, or at least there is no data, not even in-vitro, about it. The only good thing we can write about Ascorbyl Palmitate is that there is an in-vitro (made in the lab, not on real people) study showing that it might be able to boost collagen production. It was only an in-vitro study meaning that it was done on cell cultures and not on real people, but still, this also does not support the use of AP too much. Third, another study that wanted to examine the antioxidant properties of AP was surprised to find that even though AP does have nice antioxidant properties following UVB radiation (the same one that comes from the sun) it also promotes lipid peroxidation and cytotoxicity. We are highly skeptical what effect a tiny amount of AP has in a formula. Even if it can be converted, the palmitate part of the molecule is more than the half of it, so the efficacy will not be good and we have never seen a serum that contains a decent (and proudly disclosed) amount of AP. This does not mean that ascorbyl palmitate cannot penetrate the skin (because it can, it's oil soluble and the skin likes to absorb oil soluble things) but this means that it's questionable if ascorbyl palmitate can be converted into pure Vit C in the skin. ![]() Second, a study that examined the skin absorption of vitamin C found that ascorbyl palmitate did not increase the skin levels of AA. A great study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology compared a bunch of vitamin C derivatives and this derivative was the only one where the study said in terms of stability that it's "similar to AA". PEG-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethiconeįirstly, it's stability is only similar to that of pure ascorbic acid (AA), which means it is not really stable. His contemporaries honoured him as the "Ptolemy of his century". As the "Theatrum" had been dedicated to the Spanish king Philip II by Ortelius, the latter was given the title of a Royal Geographer ( geographus regius). As late as 1697 there appeared in Venice a "Teatro del Mondo di Abramo Orteio". Very numerous were the smaller editions and extracts in the various languages. ![]() In 1593 there were 137, in 1612 no less than 166 maps, while the list of authors reached 183 for the time up to 1595 antiquated maps were replaced by more modern ones, or changed according to the more accurate reports forwarded for the most part by missionaries, and it soon appeared not only in the Latin language, but also in Dutch, High German, Italian, and French translations. Later on this "Theatrum" was enlarged and improved. As concerning many of these cartographers we have no other knowledge than that contained in this catalogue, and as Ortelius utilized but forty-six of the maps mentioned by him, this little list is today one of the most important sources for a history of cartography. More important for us than this dictionary is the appended catalogue of maps ( Catalogus auctorum tabularum geographicarum), in which appear the names and works of ninety-nine cartographers who lived before 1570. To the atlas he appended a geographical dictionary which contained both the ancient and modern names. Considering geography as an eye of history ( historiœ oculus), he usually added the ancient historical names of countries and cities to the modern ones. ![]() He conscientiously gave credit to the author of maps which were published on a reduced scale by himself. When the name of the author was mentioned on the map, Orteius did not change a line or a name then, but, when the author's name was not given, he resolutely made such changes as appeared to him necessary. Where several maps of one country were available, he chose the most modern and most reliable copy. Ortelius has combined in this work in a systematic manner all recent maps of the world and separate countries, of which he had heard during his long activity as trader and collector. This work is the "Theatrum orbis terrarum", which appeared in 1570 it was the first great modern atlas, and contained seventy copper engravings on fifty-three double-folio pages. No copy has yet been found of Ortelius's great map of Asia, but in his chief work, which assures him for all time a place of honour in the history of cartography, we find not only his own map of Asia on a smaller scale, but also a number of maps of other cartographers, who otherwise are completely unknown. ![]() Bernoulli, "Ein Karteninkunabelnband", Basle, 1905, p. As the only extant copy of this great map is that in the library of the University of Basle (cf. Five years before Mercator published his famous Carta Navigatoria (1569) appeared Ortelius's great eight-leaved map of the world. Meanwhile he did not confine himself entirely to trafficking in charts. This trading in maps was probably one of the chief reasons for his unusually extended trips to Germany, England, Italy, and particularly for his annual visits to the great fair at Leipzig. By purchasing as valuable maps as possible, mounting them on canvas, colouring, and re-selling them, he managed to assist in supporting the family, as may be gleaned from a contemporary letter. When twenty years of age he joined a guild as a colourer of charts. The death of his father in 1535, who had been a wealthy merchant, seems to have placed the family in difficulties, for Ortelius began to trade or peddle geographical charts and maps while still a mere youth. His family came from Augsburg, wherefore Ortelius frequently referred to himself as "Belgo-Germanus".
